The number of countries expressing their interest in joining the BRICS alliance is growing exponentially in 2024. This year alone, three new countries have formally submitted their application to join the bloc and be a part of the grouping. The alliance will decide on the induction of new countries in the next summit in October and will be a joint consensus. The upcoming 16th summit will be held at the Kazan region of Russia where BRICS will decide about another round of expansion.

BRICS: 3 New Countries Ready To Join the Alliance
Since the beginning of 2024, three new countries have officially expressed their interest in joining the BRICS grouping. The three new countries that have expressed their interest and formally submitted their application to join BRICS this year are:
- Zimbabwe
- Cameroon
- Pakistan

All three developing countries are economically weak and are looking to join BRICS to uplift their respective economies. However, the three nations have nothing new to bring to the table that BRICS can benefit and exploit against the US. They will be solely dependent on the alliance for their upliftment without giving anything in return.
Therefore, the chances of them being inducted into the bloc this year remain relatively low. The alliance has mostly invited oil-rich countries to join the bloc last year as they can use their energy sector to challenge the US. Moreover, India is not happy with the prospects of Pakistan submitting their application to join BRICS. Pakistan is taking the help of Russia and China to be inducted into the bloc. Since the induction is consensus based, India will likely vote against Pakistan being sent an invitation to become a member.
